CONTENDERS BEWARE AS SIX AWESOME NEW GLADIATORS JOIN WOLF FOR THE NEW SERIES OF GLADIATORS

GLADIATORS is back and it’s bigger, badder and better than before. Sky1 today announced that six new modern day heroes are to join an elite group of athletes – the Gladiators. And if that wasn’t enough to put fear into the hearts of the contenders, the news that the legend Wolf is back as the Gladiators’ manager - think Alex Ferguson, but with more bite – should have them quaking in their lycra.

The new breed of Gladiators entering the arena:

AMAZON - (Zoe Williams, 28, Burnley).
Regal and Amazonian, natures’ powerful force runs through her veins.
Statistics: Height 5ft 10”, weight 10 stone 6lbs, specialist event Powerball.

CYCLONE - (Donna Williams, 28, Bury St Edmunds)
Fast and furious, Cyclone leaves destruction all around her.
Statistics: Height 5ft 4”, weight 9 stone 3 lbs, specialist event Hang Tough.

DOOM - (Wayne Gordon, 38, London).
Mere mortals beware, there’s a dark cloud that looms, judgment day is afoot and Doom is your worst nightmare.
Statistics: Height 6ft 3”, weight 15 stone, specialist event Pursuit.

GOLIATH - (Barri Griffiths, 26 North Wales).
A man-mountain with brute force. As frightening to look at as he is unstoppable. Contenders will always be in his shadow – because his shadow’s so big!
Statistics: Height 6 ft 6”, weight 19 stone 9lbs, specialist event Earthquake.

SIREN - (Amy Guy, 25, Wrexham).
The goddess of perilous seduction, expect no mercy. She will entice any contender into the waters and show how dangerous she can be.
Statistics: Height 5ft 9”, weight 9 stone, specialist event hang tough.

WARRIOR - (Daniel Singh, 21, Durham)
A savage beast who takes no prisoner. A Warrior in name and nature with a fearful battle cry.
Statistics: Height 6ft 3”, weight 17 stone 8lbs, specialist event Hang Tough.

Wolf comments: “I was blown away by the buzz I felt competing in the Gladiators arena again. It was like I’d never been away. The audience was phenomenal and clearly wanted more of the Wolfman. And now I’m back as manager, and I’m in charge!”. And in true Wolf style he warned; “The Wolfman is back! WATCH OUT!!"

Steve Jones, Commissioning Editor, Sky1, 2 and 3 commented: “Our new Gladiators are an awesome sight to behold. Bigger, stronger, and even more unstoppable than before. We have found some brilliant characters and they will all be at the top of their game for fear of getting a rollicking from their new manager! I actually feel a bit sorry for our contenders this series!”

Following the success of series one, series two promises even more heart-pounding action with Ian Wright presiding and new presenter Caroline Flack getting right to the heart of the action making sure fans don’t miss a thing.

Wolf will also face a new nemesis. John Coyle, one of Britain’s most respected boxing referees, takes over from original referee John Anderson.

With new events and a brand new eliminator, series two of GLADIATORS promises to be the most high octane entertainment event of the year.

New Events include:

SUSPENSION BRIDGE
Gladiator and contender start at opposite ends of the Suspension Bridge. On the whistle they advance towards each other armed with ram rods with the intention of removing each other from the bridge. The contender’s objective is to get to the Gladiator’s platform at the opposite side of the bridge.

ROCKETBALL
A head for heights is definitely needed as two contenders and two Gladiators are strapped into ratchets that shoot them into the air repeatedly at the push of a button. The contenders try to put balls into the two scoring receptacles 20 feet in the air while the Gladiators try to defend.

PURSUIT
The ultimate obstacle course, speed and strength come in to play in this gruelling race. Contenders must hurry over beams, complete a hand ladder, climb over a low wall, climb over a high wall and still find the energy to swing across the pool and reach the finish line. During all of this a Gladiator is in hot pursuit hoping to tag the contender and take them out of the game.

Here is an exclusive picture of myself and brand new UK Gladiator WARRIOR. He's definitely one of the stand out characters from the new series and an early favourite of mine. You need to see this guy make some moves! A true spectacle to say the least! :D

You have to consider the size of the studio, and what events would fit within it. I think 3 new events, in addition to the current pool and some changes to other events, is good going personally.

Really disappointed with the inclusion of Suspension Bridge and Pursuit, Suspension Bridge is just a poor man's Duel even though I liked the original.

You really need and wait to watch these on TV before you pass judgement. Pursuit is vast improved (in my opinion) on the original and Suspension Bridge is a nice alternative to Duel - obviously Suspension Bridge is all about impact and pushing - rather than hitting.
